New News Scientists?
In a recent New Scientist article, more demonstrations of sewing flickr images together, wow! (NOT SARCASTIC! actual awe, well at least a little)
O.K. this may not be new, but f'ing love Photosynth and this is just another push at the boundaries of what could be possible.
Sameer Agarwal's team from the University of Washington in Seattle have created (among other things) a simulation of Rome.
Check out this short video, and then we'll talk some more:

Discover more @ New Scientist
There is one quote I'd like to pull out of the article that I think is a little eye opening:
"They hope the work will help us preserve and remember the beauty of today's cities for future generations to enjoy."
